Lingua francese e identità nazionale: un percorso di consapevolezza

The analysis of a certain number of important moments of the history of the French language, from the XVI century to the present day, reveals a plurality of intents and vocations concerning this language throughout History and across many heterogeneous spaces. We know French as an important element for the building of the nation, we are also aware of its role in policy and diplomacy, but what we intend to show in this paper is its link with the affirmation and contestation of values concerning the individual and his community, in order to demonstrate that French is also a catalyst for consciousness of identity.

L’analisi di alcuni momenti chiave della storia della lingua francese, dal XVI secolo ad oggi, rivela una pluralità di intenti e vocazioni di cui si fa depositario, nel tempo della Storia e nello spazio di un territorio eterogeneo, l’idioma di Francia: elemento di costruzione nazionale, fonte di potenziamento politico e diplomatico, ma anche e soprattutto luogo di affermazione e contestazione di valori legati all’individuo e alla sua comunità di appartenenza, la lingua francese è un acceleratore di consapevolezza identitaria.
