This paper illustrates the seismic design and the construction of a case-study six-storey residential CLT building in Florence, Italy. All the different stages of the design are described, starting from the first dimensioning of the CLT panels made according to the results of a preliminary linear static analysis, then, considering also production, transportation and construction issues, checking all the architectonic details changed according to the results of the preliminary design and deciding the final structural configuration, then passing to the final design of the CLT building obtained through a linear dynamic analysis performed with a three-dimensional finite element model and the consequent details of the structural design especially related to the mechanical connections, then briefly describing the realization of the production drawings of the CLT panels, and finally addressing the issues related to the construction process of the entire building.
