This paper analyses the functions that the Qurʾān assigns to the senses of sight and hearing, mainly referring to the context of God and men’s communication. The Qur’¡n itself seems to face this problem in a very methodical way, clearly separating the Signs of God into visual ones and acoustic ones and suggesting, as I try to demonstrate, that, at least with reference to earthly time, hearing has the primary function.

Abstract
This paper analyses the functions that the Qurʾān assigns to the senses of sight and hearing, mainly referring to the context of God and men’s communication. The Qur’¡n itself seems to face this problem in a very methodical way, clearly separating the Signs of God into visual ones and acoustic ones and suggesting, as I try to demonstrate, that, at least with reference to earthly time, hearing has the primary function.File in questo prodotto:
