Un intruso tra le fonti di un grammatico? I loci plautini nell'Ars Prisciani

This study aims to analyze the peculiar concentration of Plautine quotations in Priscian's works. In most late antique grammatical works Plautus' auctoritas is associated with specific, already crystallized doctrinal issues. In Priscian's case, however, the extensive use of Plautus — particularly to address speci􀔆c needs for linguistic documentation (e.g., morphological forms of diminutives and adverbs, as well as the description of metrical structures in the De metris Terenti) — suggests that the grammarian possessed and, at times, annotated an edition of the comedies Varronianae.
