The application of acoustic metamaterials to aeroacoustic environments is limited by the changes in the mechanism of wave propagation in moving media. The adaptation of statically designed acoustic metacontinua is addressed from a spacetime perspective, where convection is interpreted as a source of spacetime curvature. Attention is focused on the implications of using approximate spacetime mappings to account for background flow non-uniformities. The analysis addresses performance recovery and the sensitivity of the corrected designs in different operative conditions. The contribution aims to provide practical guidelines for the implementation of metamaterial-based devices in aeroacoustic configurations.

Abstract
The application of acoustic metamaterials to aeroacoustic environments is limited by the changes in the mechanism of wave propagation in moving media. The adaptation of statically designed acoustic metacontinua is addressed from a spacetime perspective, where convection is interpreted as a source of spacetime curvature. Attention is focused on the implications of using approximate spacetime mappings to account for background flow non-uniformities. The analysis addresses performance recovery and the sensitivity of the corrected designs in different operative conditions. The contribution aims to provide practical guidelines for the implementation of metamaterial-based devices in aeroacoustic configurations.I documenti in IRIS sono protetti da copyright e tutti i diritti sono riservati, salvo diversa indicazione.
