Mixed or augmented reality is a technology that introduces digital elements into a real scene. In many applications, these systems can be used to supplement or augment the information provided to the user. The impact of mixed reality on the performance of a human subject is still under investigation. In this contribution, we go towards this goal by analyzing the reaction time of a user in a mixed reality environment. For this purpose, a subjective experiment has been designed and implemented. Both accuracy and reaction time features have been evaluated. Experimental results show that the interaction methodology with the virtual world, used in the experiment, is not yet fully mature and that a more friendly virtual-interaction methodology can lead to shorter reaction times.
