This study aims to investigate the relationships between the factors that define the DAL (Disposition to Read Scale) construct (Batini et al., 2024) and variables associated with reading practices. The three dimensions of the DAL (cognitive, affective, and conative) were analyzed in relation to the variables included in a questionnaire assessing reading habits. In order to thoroughly examine these relationships, correlation and regression analyses were performed to assess whether the dimensions of the scale could serve as predictors of reading frequency, reading duration, persistence, and perceived reading efficacy. The study involved a subsample of 100 students belonging to three lower secondary schools in the province of Parma, selected from a larger population participating in a PRIN11 project on reading aloud (Batin & Corsini, 2024). The results revealed statistically significant correlations for all the dimensions examined, highlighting a synergistic and reciprocal influence between contextual and personal factors, and their subsequent impact on reading behaviors. In particular, the conative dimension emerged as a significant predictor of variables related to the participant’s reading practices, such as reading enjoyment, reading frequency, and perceived self-efficacy.

Abstract
In particular, the conative dimension emerged as a significant predictor of variables related to the participant’s reading practices, such as reading enjoyment, reading frequency, and perceived self-efficacy.I documenti in IRIS sono protetti da copyright e tutti i diritti sono riservati, salvo diversa indicazione.
